Czech-Slovak Winter Party

Hello Tucson Czech-Slovaks,

The Czech-Slovak American Club of Tucson is having a Winter Party on Saturday, February 6, 2016 for Area residents of Czech-Slovak ancestry or others with an interest in these cultures. This will be an opportunity to bring us together to keep alive the purposes of the Club that is no longer very active. We will need a count by Monday, February 1 to insure we have enough food. Most of the cost of the main course food and drinks will be paid for by the Club and will ask for only $5 from each attendee – free for children 12 and younger.

Date: Saturday, February 6, 2016.

Location: Home of Sharlot and John Prokop, 4645 E. Cerro de Aguila, Tucson, AZ 85718.  This is  ½ mile North of River Rd off of Swan Rd.

Time: 1:00 PM until ? Food served about 3 PM.

What to bring: We are also asking you to bring a dish to share – snack food, a salad, a dessert or other complimentary dish.

Food Provided: Roast Pork Loin, Dumplings, Sauerkraut and Rye Bread.  We will also provide a Czech or Slovak Beer, Wine and Soft Drinks.

Entertainment: We invite musicians to bring their instruments to do some “Jamming”.

Let us know: Please respond no later than Monday, February 1 to let us know you are coming.

Please share the invitation with your circle of friends that will be interested. We also welcome our friends from the Phoenix area.

To RSVP by February 1, please contact me by email or phone as follows: jfprokop@comcast.net, or 520-529-2807.

I hope that we can use this get-together to discuss our future and see if anyone else has an interest in keeping the Club going.  It has been four years since our Tucson Czech-Slovak Club stopped having regular meetings and paid membership.  I accepted the responsibility to maintain our formal corporate and non-profit status and have done so.  We are now at the point where we must again decide how to proceed.  Our Czech and Slovak Community in the Tucson area has not demanded more activities and it has been difficult to keep in touch with our friends from the past – with changes in contact information, we’ve lost track of a lot of former Club participants. So, please come and plan to have a good time and share your ideas about the future – and again, please let your Czech-Slovak friends know of this event.

We’ll look forward to seeing you on February 6.

John Prokop, for the Tucson Czech-Slovak Club
